Jedi - the perfect roleplaying concept

Jedi! The perfect character concept for roleplaying games

You've most likely seen the prequel movies, perhaps also watched the Clone Wars series. While everyone doesn't like them, or even hate them, one thing can be said for sure - a character concept that is perfect for roleplaying games exists in them - Jedi. The jedi lead, fly, negotiate, investigate, fight with blazing swords defeating loads of opponents - they are HEROES. And perhaps you've already noticed that some stupid movies would work extremely well if they were roleplaying games, as players love to do stupid things even if they don't like watch someone else doing such!

Preparing for Galactica RPG: Prepainted minis & Paper space ships

Dradis alert! Three base stars just jumped in!

Galactica is one of the games I'm planning to run with Savage Worlds in future. It's most likely to be a mini-campaign, consisting of ~5 sessions. As a miniature and prop -fanatic, I've gathered some props for the game already.

Most of the miniatures I'll use in the game will be sames I use in my cyberpunk campaign. Soldiers, men in suits, commoners, they all fit in. I've bought a few cheap clix I'll use as pilots, even if they don't have perfect match for the suit they'll work:

Very simple modelling project: Death Star

Death Star and destroyers

How easy can a modelling project be? Death Star must be the easiest one I've done. Cutting the place for the super laser was perhaps the hardest part, after that I applied dyed filler-paste to the model, carved the center line and painted it. Not the most accurate model but works.

Imperial walkers - a resin cast AT-ST and model kit AT-AT

I used to run a D20 Star Wars campaign years ago, and I created some At-St walkers for it. I created an original piece and then made a mold of it and  created a few pieces. I used my AT-AT model kit and the chicken walkers with paper miniatures and they worked well. This was before I got addicted to plastic Star Wars miniatures.

I didn't buy the At-At miniature, but I've been using this kit with the miniatures. Even if it's a bit small to be used with the miniatures, it looks ok if there's no other vehicles around, but even if there is it's still better than nothing.

Scratchbuilt Star Wars ground combat miniatures

At-At assault

Another crazy project of mine. Some days I think I have time for everything, and I try to do everything... I was preparing ground combat rules for very small scale Star Wars miniatures, but I never got them finished. I've got a bunch of scratchbuilt or modified small miniatures though, and now that I've found Savage Worlds and it's mass combat rules, I can create battles using miniatures as counters! If you're a Savage Worlds fan, you might want to read my post about starship battles.

Tatooine -like rpg/miniatures gaming terrain

Sarlacc!

"If there's a center to the universe, then you're on the planet that it's farthest from!"

-Luke skywalker, speaking of his homeworld Tatooine

Addition: I added a few WIP pictures of the buildings to the bottom of the post.

Scratchbuilt Corellian Corvette

Mini-sized resin cast corellian corvette

Corellian Corvette, alias Blockade Runner, is the first ship seen in the first Star Wars movie... In the game world, it is widely used by rebellion and other factions also.

Tutorial: Burning starship wrecks (and how to model fire!)

Some wire and failed casts as base of space ship wrecks

Burning star destroyer, dreadnought and freighter

Most frequent question I get asked on gaming sites is about how I have created fire and smoke. Now I'm releasing a tutoral about this topic - while it's actually about creating starship wrecks, it will teach you how to model fire. Another page (coming soon) will show you applications of this technique.

Savage Worlds mass combat in space

Combat starts, Mon Calamari cruiser encounters Imperial Star destroyer.

Combat goes on

This writing was made to demonstrate how Savage Worlds Mass Combat rules can be used to simulate conflict between two capital starships. In this example, a Rebel Mon Calamari cruiser comes out of hyperspace, along with an YT-1300 freighter (Millenium Falcon -model) and a troop transport. They are about to drive away or destroy the Imperial Star Destroyer blockading the planet.
