Cemeteries in tabletop games – thoughts, inspiration, links

View to Montmartre cemetery

Cemetery, Graveyard, Necropolis, City of the Dead. Pretty much every fantasy city, town and village has such, and they have a great promise of adventure: Necromancers looking for bodies, haunts with unfinished business, buried treasures and even a whole unholy domain, especially at night time – as Necropolis and it's Dark Reliquary in Ptolus.

Website updates

This site is finally getting some care. For too long time I haven't had time to develop the site or fix the bugs, but with all the experience I've gained during the last years I'm finally preparing to do some updates. These updates may cause occassional errors or other minor issues. Sorry for any inconvinience!

I'll most likely do some updates to the looks of the site, and I also like to rebuild some features ready Drupal components haven't handled well - including browsing pages, which I'm going to renew, saying goodbye to Views module!

Gaming terrain: Ancient cemetery

Graves, crypts, creepy trees and statues

A classic theme in fantasy games, this cemetery terrain has gained some inspiration from Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Montmartre cemetery in Paris. These terrains have often seen use in rpg's, and they really bring atmosphere.

Materials used

Plaster cast in mold (statue, tombstones, wall on the background)

Cardboard (Crypt walls and roof, bases, thinner obelisk parts)

Completed diorama photo

This small diorama -photo was made for a small maxminis -competition. Some terrain props I've made before were used in the diorama, and potato flour to make the ground look more authentic. Sky was taken from a photo and added to it using Gimp.

Below is the original photo, with original background:
