Modelling project: Creating dungeon terrain board

After spraying

This project started after I got tired of photographs of games taken on an old, almost white D&D miniatures battle map. I looked for vinyl mats first, but it started to look like the ones I was interested in weren't available anymore, and I wasn't perfectly happy about them either, so I decided to create real 3d ones of my own. I wanted to find a really strudy base for the terrains but couldn't find any, making me dig up some hardboard and use it as a base. The result was satisfactory, even if there is a bit distortion.

Savage tactics - a new view to character's options in combat

Savage worlds is a great system that translates action descriptions easily into mechanics, but sometimes you just need a bit help when thinking what you want to do, or a cheat to see how to do it. For this purpose, I give you Savage Tactics, a sheet resembling Combat Survival guide, but from a different point of view - concentrating on character strengths.

Chemical container car - paper gaming props for your modern/scifi games

Paper chemical container car

Here's a paper model of a chemical container train car I've used as a prop in my Savage Cyberworld -campaign. Print it on two A4/Letter sheets, on cardstock, 120g paper or something else strudier than standard paper. I haven't added instructions as the model is quite simple, and I didn't see it necessary to add the parts that attach train cars to each other (whatever they are called in English), model worked quite well without them.

Sorry for long delays in my posts series - even worse these pauses are made by the fact that many cool miniatures singles fly off the shelves very fast. Older clix and mage knights are being found again by roleplayers and are selling hot again. It's some time since I started writing this article too, and regrettably many of the items are out at T&T, possibly elsewhere too. It's worth it to look for them though - the ones I'm showing now are really excellent minis for modern/cyberpunk games!
 

DnD Next - Really interesting character building methods?

If I get it right, DnD next will have some quite interesting features in character design. I've been tinkering my own game systems (but dropped the design when I found savage worlds which filled my rpg needs for now) and one feature I've been think of is having classes as a less rigid packages you can 'buy'. From what I've read, DDN will have an approaches to classes that resembles this. What I hadn't thought of was buying races as this kind of packages.

Thoughts about D&D5E (after long 3E & 4E experience)

I guess everyone has their own preferences about what 5E should have. That's why the news of having a core system and optional rules, both for DM's and players, sounds like a good idea. This makes it even more important to have a very functional base system. D20, hitpoints, target numbers etc. will most likely stay pretty much as they were. Personally, I'm not so fond of hitpoints anymore, but I guess they are D&D.
