PbtA Star Wars on demand – perfect combination!

Rebel team in a tight spot on a volcanic planet

RPG's have never felt this much Star Wars!

In September I was running Games on Demand at Tracon (Tampere / Finland). I prepared materials to run Rebellion era Star Wars with a simple PbTA system, and it was a perfect hit! During 2 days I run 6 games with 3-6 players, shortest game being 50 minutes and the longest extending to 1h20min as no-one was in hurry.

THIS is real roleplaying!

Uncharted worlds

Briefly: As a very picky GM I've fought past my prejudices and found a rules system that wasn't just great, it blew my mind. While the system initially seemed like a big turn-off, putting it in the right context made it crystal clear: Why aren’t all roleplaying games made like this? Well, D&D and many other games have their own place, but IMHO this is how pure roleplaying games should be done. Fiction and story first, and it's actions of player characters that really matter.

Geeky stuff in Paris and La Rochelle

A large collection of cool stuff...

I spent this Easter in France - a few days in Paris and a few in La Rochelle. I thought of writing a few words to those visiting these places and in hope of finding interesting game- related stuff.

Savage tactics - a new view to character's options in combat

Savage worlds is a great system that translates action descriptions easily into mechanics, but sometimes you just need a bit help when thinking what you want to do, or a cheat to see how to do it. For this purpose, I give you Savage Tactics, a sheet resembling Combat Survival guide, but from a different point of view - concentrating on character strengths.

Chemical container car - paper gaming props for your modern/scifi games

Paper chemical container car

Here's a paper model of a chemical container train car I've used as a prop in my Savage Cyberworld -campaign. Print it on two A4/Letter sheets, on cardstock, 120g paper or something else strudier than standard paper. I haven't added instructions as the model is quite simple, and I didn't see it necessary to add the parts that attach train cars to each other (whatever they are called in English), model worked quite well without them.

Prepainted miniatures for Cyberpunk/Modern: Expanding repertoire - some excellent choises

Heroscape suits, street girls and debithed Bith
Sorry for long delays in my posts series - even worse these pauses are made by the fact that many cool miniatures singles fly off the shelves very fast. Older clix and mage knights are being found again by roleplayers and are selling hot again. It's some time since I started writing this article too, and regrettably many of the items are out at T&T, possibly elsewhere too. It's worth it to look for them though - the ones I'm showing now are really excellent minis for modern/cyberpunk games!

Pulut (Pigeons) - scratchbuilt wedding cake decoration

Pulut (Pigeons) - the comic wedding cake decoration

I've been drawing Pulut -sarjakuva (Pigeons -comics) for a Finnish young's community site, and like I've often drawn these pigeons to guestbooks and in greetings, I decided to create a decoration for our wedding cake of these comic characters. The same theme was seen in wedding invitation, where one pigeon 'accidentally' prod a ring closer to another pigeon - and the wedding cake decoration was made from this picture.
