Review: High Space, final version

High Space briefly, with minor spoilers: An inspiring space/scifi setting that gives you an option of running a long epic story or Traveller -like small adventures. The main story feels a bit like Babylon 5 spiced with some cthulhu/galactica -like elements and unique, 'realistic' style space battles.

Chemical container car - paper gaming props for your modern/scifi games

Paper chemical container car

Here's a paper model of a chemical container train car I've used as a prop in my Savage Cyberworld -campaign. Print it on two A4/Letter sheets, on cardstock, 120g paper or something else strudier than standard paper. I haven't added instructions as the model is quite simple, and I didn't see it necessary to add the parts that attach train cars to each other (whatever they are called in English), model worked quite well without them.

Did you assemble and paint WW2 military aircraft as a kid? I did, although I really didn't like much the glues and paints used in them, the ones I'm using currently in modelling and with miniatures are way easier to handle, an healthier too I guess. I also read Commando -comics and was generally fascinated about technology of The Great War. If you are also Plasticrack addict(tm), you'll be easily tempted to these.

Players are often lazy. While they enjoy playing games, they might not share Game Master's enthusiasm to the campaign setting and it's world, and as getting to know it could require reading somewhere from 10 to 150 pages, they might not really know or understand many things that come up during the game.

Is it good to be able to create the exact character you want?

Having heard that abilities are being rolled again in DnD Next made me think about randomness in character creation. I'll have to say that I've missed random ability generation, and I'm a bit bored of creating exactly the character I want. Rolling the scores (dropping the lowest d6) and then assigning them to abilities you want has something I just like.

I've been drawing Pulut -sarjakuva (Pigeons -comics) for a Finnish young's community site, and like I've often drawn these pigeons to guestbooks and in greetings, I decided to create a decoration for our wedding cake of these comic characters. The same theme was seen in wedding invitation, where one pigeon 'accidentally' prod a ring closer to another pigeon - and the wedding cake decoration was made from this picture.

RPG session series concept: Linked but unrelated games

I have way too many game worlds and genres on my 'to-run' list, so I have no hope of running many of them as a campaign. I would't have enough material to run a campaign for many of them anyway, but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to run them as straight one-shots either; Players often want some continuity, so a series of one-shots doesn't sound so good.
